For the person signing

Your client signs in under a minute, on their phone.

No account or app
They open the link in the email and sign.
One screen of consent
They agree to sign electronically, then see the document.
Nothing is lost
Every field saves as they type, so a dropped signal on a train costs nothing.
Always clear what’s left
A bar at the bottom counts the fields still to fill.

Questions

Is Paraph really free?

Yes. The free plan has no monthly limit on signature requests, signers, team members or templates, and no trial period. It puts a “Signed with Paraph” badge on the signing page, the emails and the certificate.

Who is Paraph for?

Anyone who needs a document signed: small and medium-sized businesses, startups, indie hackers and freelancers, anywhere. Most send NDAs, contractor and freelance agreements, client contracts, offer letters and consent forms.

Why is it free, and what’s the catch?

The catch is the badge. Sending one more document costs us a few emails and a little storage, so we can afford to give sending away; the badge is how new people find Paraph, and Pro pays for the rest.

A fair use policy stops the free plan being used for phishing, and it has no document count.

What does Pro include?

Pro is £19 a month or £190 a year, for any team size. It includes:

  • No “Signed with Paraph” badge on your documents, emails or certificates
  • Team roles and permissions
  • Up to 50 signers on one document, instead of 20
  • Your logo and colour on emails, the signing page and the certificate
  • Folders
  • Templates shared with the whole organisation
  • Retention controls: delete on a schedule, with a legal hold that overrides it

Do the people signing need an account?

No. They open the link in the email and sign in their browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install, and no account is made for them.

Where are my documents stored, and who can see them?

In London. Documents and the database are with Supabase in AWS eu-west-2, and the servers that handle them run in Vercel’s London region.

On Free, everyone in your organisation can see every document. On Pro, members see their own documents and those in shared folders, and owners and admins see everything. What Paraph itself can see is on the security page.

How long do you keep my documents?

Until you delete them. The only thing deleted without you asking is a draft you never sent, 90 days after it was last edited, and we email you 14 days before. On Pro you can also set rules that delete documents on a schedule.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?

Yes, for most business agreements in the UK, the EU and the US: the Electronic Communications Act 2000 and the UK’s version of the eIDAS rules, the EU’s eIDAS Regulation, and the US ESIGN Act and state laws all stop a signature being refused just because it is electronic. Each has exceptions, such as wills and documents that need a witness or a notary.

What can’t I sign with Paraph?

Anything that needs more than a simple electronic signature: deeds, wills, lasting powers of attorney, Land Registry documents, and anything that has to be witnessed or needs a qualified electronic signature.

Most business contracts, such as NDAs, contractor and freelance agreements, client contracts, offer letters and consent forms, can be signed with Paraph. When you need a wet signature or a witness.

How is Paraph different from DocuSign?

DocuSign has no free plan. Its Standard plan is priced per person: £20 each a month on annual billing, with 100 envelopes per user a year. Paraph’s free plan has no monthly limit, and Pro is £19 a month for the whole team. DocuSign does a great deal Paraph doesn't, including an API and integrations and advanced and qualified electronic signatures. Paraph does less: there is no API, no integrations and no way to send from your own email domain yet, and the question above lists what it can’t sign.
