Short answers to the questions people ask before they send or sign a document. If yours isn’t here, email info@tryparaph.com.
Sending documents
- How to send a document for signature
Upload a PDF, add the people who need to sign, place their fields and send. Each person signs from their own link, with no account.
- How to make people sign in a set order
Choose "in order" before you send. Each person is emailed when it is their turn, and nobody can sign before the person ahead of them.
- How reminders work, and how to stop them
Paraph reminds anyone who hasn't signed up to three times. You can send one yourself, turn them off for a document, and a signer can stop their own.
- How to use templates for documents you send often
Save a document you've set up as a template, then start new ones from it with the fields already placed. Unlimited on both plans.
- How to delete a document
Delete a draft, completed, declined or withdrawn document from its page. One out for signature has to be withdrawn first. What goes, and what stays.
Signing documents
- How to sign a document on your phone
Open the link in the email, agree to sign electronically, fill in the green boxes and press Sign and finish. No app, no account.
- How to sign a document on an Android phone
Open the link from the email in your phone's browser, agree to sign electronically, fill in your fields and sign. No app, no account.
- How to decline a document
Use the decline link below the document on the signing page. One decline stops the document for everyone, and the sender is told.
The law and the evidence
- Are electronic signatures legally binding?
Yes, for most business agreements in the UK, the EU and the US. What the law says in each, and the documents each one treats differently.
- When do you need a wet signature or a witness in the UK?
Deeds need a witness in the room, wills two, and lasting powers of attorney a signature on paper. The documents Paraph isn't for, with sources.
- What an audit trail proves, and what it doesn't
It proves what happened to a document and when, from which IP address and browser. It doesn't prove who was holding the device.
- How to check a signed PDF hasn't been changed
Work out your copy's SHA-256 fingerprint and compare it with the one on the completion certificate. If they match, nothing has changed.
Checking a message is real
- Is this email from Paraph real?
How to tell a genuine Paraph signing request from a fake, the two domains it comes from, what it looks like, and how to report one.
Plans and billing
- What's included on Free, and what Pro adds
Free has unlimited signature requests, signers and team members, with a badge. Pro removes the badge for any team size and adds team controls.
- What happens to my documents if I move from Pro to Free?
Nothing is deleted. New documents carry the badge again, folders stay, roles stop applying so everyone sees every document, and retention rules stop.
- What is the "Signed with Paraph" badge?
A small line on the signing page, the emails and the certificate of documents sent on the free plan. It never goes on the signed PDF. Pro removes it.
