How to sign a document on your phone
Open the link in the email, agree to sign electronically, then tap each green box, fill it in and press the button to finish. There is no app to install and no account to make, and it works in the browser on an iPhone or an Android phone.
1. Open the link from the email
The email comes from the person who sent you the document, through one of our email domains. The link is yours alone: don't forward it, because anyone who opens it can sign in your name.
If you weren't expecting the document, don't sign it. Is this email from Paraph real? goes through the checks.
2. Agree to sign electronically
The first screen says who asked you to sign and what the document is, and what signing electronically means: it has the same effect as signing on paper, and we record the time, your IP address and your browser. If you would rather sign on paper, close the page and reply to the email instead.
3. Fill in your fields
The document opens with your fields on it. Tap a green box, or the button that takes you to the next field, and a panel rises from the bottom of the screen:
- Signature and initials. Draw with your finger, or type your name and pick a style.
- Text. Type what the sender asked for.
- Checkbox. Tap to tick it.
- Date signed fills itself in when you sign.
A bar at the bottom of the screen always says how many fields are left. Everything saves as you go, so if the signal drops or you close the page, open the link again and carry on where you were.
4. Sign
When every field is filled, press the button to sign and finish. That's all. When everyone on the document has signed, each of you gets the signed PDF and a completion certificate by email.
If it isn't your turn yet
If the sender asked people to sign in order, the page tells you it isn't your turn. You don't need to do anything: you'll get an email when it is.
If you don't want to sign
There is a link below the document to decline. One decline stops the document for everybody, so use it when you won't sign, rather than to ask a question: for that, reply to the email. There is also a link to report the document if something about it looks wrong.
